
Barrister Oluyinka Oyeniji
LEGAL ADVISOR
Oluyinka Oyeniji is a seasoned legal practitioner called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003 after earning his LL.B. from Lagos State University in 2001. With extensive experience in corporate commercial law, he has led several law offices supporting senior legal practitioners. His expertise spans aviation claims, real estate, stock market transactions, banking, employment relations, IT law, and digital services. Since 2010, he has served as Managing Partner of First Chronicles LP, an international law firm he co-founded.
Oyeniji holds a Master’s degree in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Sussex Business School, UK. His research interests include neuroethics, artificial intelligence (AI) policy, and emerging technologies. As an academic, he has lectured on software design, AI ethics, ICT for development, and research methods at De Montfort University, UK. He has also coordinated faculty curricula and collaborated with international institutions on AI governance and innovation research.
A dedicated policy expert and futurist, Oyeniji was among 49 high-level experts who developed Nigeria’s AI policy framework (2021-2022). He has advised state governments, the World Bank, and advocacy groups on fiscal transparency, child rights, and mental health policies, focusing on legal frameworks for brain research and development.
Beyond law and policy, Oyeniji actively supports civil society initiatives, including the Human Rights Foundation and Triune Foundation. He is Founder of The Olu of Lagos Foundation and a pioneer graduate of the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance. A member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), and International Neuroethics Society, he remains deeply involved in electoral processes in Nigeria and the UK. As an academic author, he advocates for Africa in the fields of law, technology, and ethics.
